Why start The Bakery?

Jia Syed

Personal Trainer

My journey began as an unfit high school girl in a weightlifting class surrounded by athletes, trying desperately to keep up and prove that I could be strong too. For years, I pushed my hypermobile body through workouts that left me in pain and discouraged, never understanding why no amount of exercise seemed to lead to results.

That hunger for answers led me to pursue health and fitness academically and professionally. I earned a degree in Public Health with a concentration in Clinical Science, learned alongside physical therapists to better understand therapeutic movement, and became a professional personal trainer. But in practice, I quickly saw that the standard approach to fitness was not working for many of the dynamic bodies in front of me. Clients with hypermobility, past injuries, chronic illness, full lives, and changing bodies needed more than cookie-cutter programming.

This realization led me down a path to refining a tailored approach designed for hypermobile, injury-prone, and changing bodies alike. Today, I work with people who have been overlooked by traditional fitness spaces, including those navigating hypermobility, chronic pain, or the physical shifts that come with pregnancy, aging, and major life transitions.

My approach prioritizes joint integrity, thoughtful progression, and sustainable strength so clients can build stability and confidence without constant flare-ups or setbacks.
